Sculpture Commission at Enniskillen Presbyterian Church – 2006 & 2013
Mark was commissioned by Enniskillen Presbyterian Church in 2006 to create a new church notice board and sculpture installation at the front of the church.
The work was a response to extracts from chapters 21 and 22 in the book of Revelation, looking to the new heavenly Jerusalem where ‘The leaves of the tree are for healing the nations’…and ‘the waters give life’.
Mark constructed a symbolic representation of a world split in two using two dome shaped containers on which countries are represented in a mosaic of white and blue tiles – emblematic of a fallen and broken world. The container on the left, the northern hemisphere, holds a fruit tree that represents the ‘tree of life’. On the opposite side is a fountain, coming from the southern hemisphere, that symbolizes the river of life.
The work was revisited and updated in 2013 as part of an extensive rebuild of the church halls and front entrance.
